Africa’s future depends on how we empower our youth today.

For a long time it was the view that because Africa didn't always write, or have written document for his history that means Africa didn’t document its history. That is not true

This is not only a special thing for me but also for my country and all African women.

The real question is the dehumanization of Africa and Africans which this age-long attitude has fostered and continues to foster in the world. And the question is whether a novel which celebrates this dehumanization, which depersonalizes a portion of the human race, can be called a great work of art.

South Africa is so deeply rooted in history. You can't talk about South Africa without mentioning its history, culture, and great artists like Miriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela, Busi Mhlongo, etc.

I am particularly moved because this is the very first time I am performing in South Africa

There has been a way of seeing Africa in terms of poverty and conflict which has become a kind of shorthand for the continent that still persists today.

Bill Clinton is like a lot of white politicians. They eat soul food, they party with black women, they play the saxophone, but when it comes to domestic and foreign policy, they make the same decisions that are destructive to African people in this country and throughout the world.

Looking at the new generation of African artists, many of them get trapped early on in styles that aren’t theirs, and that limits them. At this rate, I worry about the future of African music, and that in the future, there won’t be many singers who represent the African woman.

The European view point of exploitation of women in Europe compared to the African American women shows an inaccurate judgment.

But African languages refused to die. They would not simply go to the way of Latin to become the fossils for linguistic archaeology to dig up, classify, and argue about the international conferences.

I believe I deserve to win the title as I embody resilience, strength and the ubuntu spirit within South Africa. As a deaf woman with a cochlear implant, I represent a community that often goes unheard.
