Understanding this quote
The quote humorously describes collage as an athletic event with physical hazards. “At every turn” suggests that each step in making a collage brings a new chance of disaster, while “gluing their face to the ground” turns the artist’s materials into a literal accident. The exaggeration makes the creative process sound both risky and absurd.
