Xul Solar

Xul Solar was an Argentine painter whose symbolic, visionary art joined vivid color with mysticism, astrology, architecture, and invented systems of writing. After living in Europe from 1912 to 1924, he returned to Buenos Aires and became part of the avant-garde circle around Martín Fierro. Beyond painting, he created the languages Neocriollo and Pan-Language, as well as Panajedrez, an experimental chess game reflecting his lifelong interest in art, language, and spiritual cosmologies.
