Vivan Sundaram

Vivan Sundaram was an Indian contemporary artist whose practice moved across painting, installation, photography, assemblage, digital media, and film. His politically engaged work often examined memory, archives, violence, and the relationship between personal history and public events. He also helped establish artist-led initiatives including the Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust and Kasauli Art Centre, and developed influential projects such as Memorial and Re-take of Amrita.
