Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela

Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela is a South African psychologist and research professor whose work examines historical trauma, forgiveness, remorse, and the intergenerational effects of political violence. Her research grew partly from her service on South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission and her dialogues with victims and perpetrators of apartheid-era abuses. She is the author of the award-winning book *A Human Being Died That Night*, which explores forgiveness and empathy through her encounters with Eugene de Kock.
