Pat Hanna

Pat Hanna was a New Zealand soldier, cartoonist, and entertainer who organized the Diggers concert party while serving as an entertainment officer with the postwar occupation forces in Germany. After demobilization, he led Pat Hanna’s Famous Diggers on highly successful tours of New Zealand and Australia, combining topical comedy, music, and caricature. He became especially known for his “digger” and army-padre characters, including the popular routine “The gospel according to cricket,” and later helped bring his stage material to film.
