Michael Powell

Michael Powell was an English film director whose most celebrated work emerged from his long creative partnership with Emeric Pressburger. Together, they made richly imaginative films including *The Red Shoes* and *A Matter of Life and Death*, blending ambitious visual design with emotionally complex storytelling. Powell’s bold, stylized approach helped secure his lasting influence on later filmmakers and on the preservation culture surrounding British cinema.
