Marc Chagall

Marc Chagall was a Belarusian-born French artist whose vivid career encompassed painting, mosaics, murals, and stained glass. Born into a Hasidic Jewish family in Vitebsk, he moved to Paris in 1910, where contact with modernist artists helped shape his distinctive visual language. His work remained closely connected to Russian Jewish traditions, personal memory, and religious imagery.
