Magdalena Abakanowicz

Magdalena Abakanowicz was a Polish artist who transformed fiber into monumental, sculptural forms known as Abakans. Her later work expanded into headless and fragmented human figures, installations, and public sculpture, exploring individuality, collectivity, and the vulnerability of the body. She became a leading figure in postwar sculpture by challenging the boundaries between textile art and three-dimensional form.
