Kim Hong-do

Kim Hong-do was a leading court painter of Korea’s late Joseon period, recognized for both genre scenes and commemorative paintings depicting important moments in people’s lives. His genre works are especially valued for observing the labor, customs, and daily activities of ordinary people. He also worked across traditional painting subjects, including landscapes, demonstrating the breadth of his artistic practice.
