Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was a German writer, artist, natural scientist, and statesman whose work helped shape modern German literature. His early drama *Götz von Berlichingen* and epistolary novel *The Sorrows of Young Werther* brought him international fame, while *Faust* became his defining lifelong literary project. He also pursued scientific studies, including influential writings on color theory and nature, and played a major cultural and administrative role in Weimar.
