Ibn al-Rumi

Ibn al-Rumi was a prolific Arabic poet of ninth-century Baghdad and a major voice of the Abbasid literary tradition. His poetry is noted for its extended treatment of ideas, vivid description, satire, and close reflection of personal and social experience. He is also known by his full name, ʿAlī ibn al-ʿAbbās ibn Jūrayj, and his surviving work is preserved chiefly through his large dīwān.
