George Orwell

George Orwell, the pen name of Eric Arthur Blair, was an English novelist, essayist, journalist, and critic whose writing examined poverty, imperialism, political power, and the corruption of language. His major works include *Animal Farm*, *Nineteen Eighty-Four*, *Down and Out in Paris and London*, *The Road to Wigan Pier*, and *Homage to Catalonia*.
