George Lisle

George Lisle was an African American Baptist minister and missionary who became pastor of an early Black Baptist congregation in Savannah, Georgia. After gaining freedom, he carried his ministry to Jamaica, where he founded the island’s first Black Baptist church and helped establish an enduring Baptist presence. His career makes him an important early figure in African American religious history and international Protestant missions.
