Dawood Hosni

Dawood Hosni was an Egyptian singer and composer whose work helped carry Arabic music from nineteenth-century traditions into the modern theatrical era. He composed in forms including the dawr, taqtuqa, qasida, and opera, and wrote for prominent performers such as Umm Kulthum, Fathia Ahmed, and Asmahan. His musical influence extended through both his compositions and his teaching, making him a significant figure in Egypt’s early twentieth-century musical culture.
