Calouste Gulbenkian

Calouste Gulbenkian was an Armenian businessman whose work helped shape the international oil industry in the early twentieth century. He also assembled an eclectic collection of more than 6,000 artworks, spanning antiquity to the early twentieth century. His philanthropy became the basis for the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, established after his death to support the arts, education, science, and charity.
