Anatoly Karatsuba

Anatoly Karatsuba was a Russian mathematician whose work centered on analytic number theory, including trigonometric sums, the Riemann zeta function, and Dirichlet characters. He was closely associated with Moscow State University and the Steklov Mathematical Institute, where he led the number theory department from 1983. He is also remembered for the fast multiplication method that bears his name, developed with Yuri Ofman and published in 1962.
