Alberto Santos-Dumont

Alberto Santos-Dumont was a Brazilian aviation pioneer whose experiments in Paris advanced both dirigible airships and powered airplanes. He designed and flew the 14-bis, making a notable early powered heavier-than-air flight in Europe in 1906. His later Demoiselle aircraft helped demonstrate the potential of lightweight, practical airplane designs.
